This past weekend we went to Camp Manitou for the 15th Burlington’s Winter Safari. This was an all sections camp. All sections means that Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers were there.
On Friday we met in the parking lot at 7:00 pm and hiked in to camp. We were sleeping in tents in the Green Monster. After we set up camp we went tobogganing down Knob hill. I was a bit cold that night.
On Saturday we woke up and had sausages and toasted bagels for breakfast. We went tobogganing down Knob Hill with the Beavers, Cubs and Venturers. In the afternoon the Cubs came over and went on a safari hike with us. What I liked about it was how we got to wander around Camp Manitou and use compasses. For dinner we had turkey and mashed potatoes which was really good. After dinner we had a campfire where Kevin and I lead Scout’s Own. I thought the Scouts Own went well because we got good participation and we picked stuff that most of the people knew. After campfire we went to Rotary Lodge for Mug-Up with the Cubs. We played Family Feud. I didn’t enjoy that very much and I don’t think the other Scouts liked it much. I think this because we were all really tired. On Sunday we packed up and left.
Things that could be improved are at mug up with the Cubs we should be able to chill with the other Scouts and organize our own games. What was also good was having the hill to our self because there was less lines.
