We kicked off January with the annual 15th Burlington WinterFest Camp. Held this year from January 17th - 19th at Camp Manitou, the camp was enjoyed by Beavers, Cubs (from 10th and 15th), and Scouts (from the East Burlington Troop). After a morning of GT Racing down Knob Hill, and an afternoon of fun activities, on Saturday evening the group got together for a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings followed by a group campfire, hosted by Scouter Phil.
While the younger sections slept in the lodges, we spent the weekend in Manitou's outdoors with the senior Scouts in an Adirondack shelter and the 1st year Scouts in the unheated Patrol Cabin. There we got to test out our Winter Camping skills. Everyone did very well, sleeping out in temperatures that dipped down to -25°C! This year will go down as one of our coldest Winter Camps ever. But after our meetings preparing for the trip, the Troop was ready for the challenge.
