Spring 1999

Spring 1999 saw the first of what is to become an annual "18 Wheeler" race within the Troop.  Racing on the same track as a Kub Kar, the 18 Wheelers come in kits which are assembled and decorated by the Scouts.  The top truck this year came from senior Scout Chris H. who made his truck a carrier for the Kub Kar he made as "Kim" with our Pack.

Speaking of the Cubs, we joined them in April for a day expanding our grey matter at the Ontario Science Centre.

Once again this year, the Troop took part in the annual Burlington District Scoutrees for Canada tree planting.  The Troop assisted over 160 Scouting members from Burlington in planting 1000 pine, red oak, and maple trees at the former landfill site on the North Service Road.  The trees will provide cover for the wildlife living in the woodlots surrounding the site.

Also in May:  We joined our "twin" Troop for next year, 10th Burlington, for a Bruce Trail hiking and caving trip to Mount Nemo for the 1999 Jamboree On The Trail.  Our Senior Patrol Leader Matt W. completed all his requirements and became 15th Burlington's 13th recipient of the Chief Scout's Award.
