Last spring's rappelling adventure was such a hit, that we didn't want to wait until the new year to get out on the rock face again. So, this November the "On Rappel!" Scouting coordinator, Scouter Ron Currell once again took our Troop to Rattlesnake Point for our 3rd experience at our Troop Specialty, rappelling. For some of the Scouts and leaders this was old hat. But for the Scouts of 2nd Strathcona and the new Scouts, a whole new world of adventure opened up.
With warm temperatures, and fair skies, Saturday was a beautiful fall day for trying out one of the 3 activities (rappelling, ascending and top rope climbing (like at a climbing wall)). All the Scouts that attended tried at least one of the activities, earning them our special Troop Specialty Challenge Badge, and perhaps giving them some new self-confidence.
Back at camp, we had a gourmet stir-fry dinner and a great campfire with skits, ghost stories, and the presentation of Scouter Guy Giroux's Woodbadge Woggle. Even the Sunday rain didn't dampen things as we had a pancake breakfast (cooked by the leaders - for a change), and packed up after a great weekend. Thanks again to Scouter Ron and his team for taking us out!
