One of the highlights of the Scouting year at 15th Burlington is the annual All-Section Winter Camp. Held this year from January 18th - 20th at Camp Manitou, the camp was enjoyed by Beavers, Cubs (from 10th and 15th), Scouts (from 6th, 10th, and 15th), and Venturers with joint activities through the weekend. While there was little snow at home in Burlington, there was more than enough at the camp. On Saturday evening, the group got together for a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings followed by a group campfire. 16 Scouts from the Troop attended this year's camp.
While the younger sections slept in the lodges, we spent the weekend in Manitou's outdoors with the senior Scouts in an Adirondack shelter and the 1st year Scouts in the unheated Patrol Cabin. There we got to test out our Winter Camping skills. Everyone did very well, sleeping out in temperatures that dipped down to -16 degrees C! We kept warm during the day practicing our Biathlon event for the District Winter Camp, building shelters with the Cubs, and GT Racing down Knob Hill. Thanks to our old friend Scouter Tony and our new friend "Scouter" George for coming out to help, to Mr. Bockler for running a great dinner, and to Jason "Google" van Veen for his great campfire program.
