Canoe Camp 2001
June 8-10, 2001 - Camp Wheeler

To finish out the regular 2000/2001 Scouting year, we returned to the annual District Canoe Camp, held from June 8 to 10 at Wheeler Scout Camp, a canoe base camp near Haliburton run by 26th Hamilton.  The camp was an opportunity for Scouts to learn valuable canoe skills in a controlled environment, and from experienced instructors.  Our own Scouter Bill was again Camp Chief, and this year 2 Pathfinder Units joined in on the camp.  With almost 100 participants and beautiful weather the weekend was a success.  Most importantly, Scouter Bill DIDN'T lock his keys in the car again this year!!!!!!

Our less experienced Scouts stayed in cabins for the weekend at Wheeler's base camp. Water activities took place in the adjoining lake, and the camp provided all meals. Will, Nick, Pat, and Jeff joined the Scouters from 1st Port Nelson to take part in an overnighter on the Island across from Wheeler.
