District Explorer Hike 1999
A Scout's Trip Report:
My name is Jeffrey and I am a Scout in my first year with the 15th Burlington. Our group participated on a Explorer Hike Camp. The meeting spot 8am on October 23 1999 Saturday morning at KELSO CONSERVATION AREA. We hiked to CRAWFORD LAKE, where we hiked to have our lunch stop. After lunch back on the trail to Camp Manitou which is the main camp grounds for all BEAVERS CUBS SCOUTS and VENTURERS. Our camp was set up in time for supper sheltered under the huge pine trees which were picture perfect. The meal was delicious spaghetti and salad. After clean up our group circled around a warm cozy campfire drinking hot chocolate telling stories and jokes. We later bedded down after a 12 km hike we were all tired and ready for some shut eye for the night. When we all awoke early the next morning I started packing my gear up. After a breakfast of Eggo waffles and juice we took down our campsite, then we were ready for the hiking trails again. Through the forest and onto MOUNT NEMO (9 km) where the meeting spot was for all our group to end and meet with our parents for pick up. I had a great time and would like to go hiking again someday.
