AT THE SITE
One of the advantages of taking a whole week for the Troop summer trip is having some time to kick back and relax from the hiking and canoe tripping. Our base camp site at Whitefish Group Camping Area gave us plenty of opportunity to have some fun at the site. At the site we swam at a swimming area with a built-in rope swing off a tree, made "pies" around the fire, awarded Scouter Phil his Wood Badge beads, and had a knock down, drag out game of Trivial Pursuit with the Scouts vs. Scouter Bill. The Scouts went on a "Mission: Impossible" to retrieve James' fishing rod which had been lost into the murky waters of the swimming area. With some expert training from Scouter Phil and armed with an underwater flashlight and mask, the Scouts were able to find the fishing equipment!
To add to the excitement, while we were away on the Interior Trip, Scouter Tony and the Cubs saw a bear wandering around our site. Sure enough, when we got back to the site we saw the evidence - paw marks on the back of Scouter Phil's truck!
